Sigaway® Contact

Sigaway® Contact

Description
Sigaway® Contact is a fiber re-enforced VOC free acrylic dry contact cement film adhesive in roll form. It replaces solvent based or water based contact cements in a number of applications. Sigaway® Contact does not pose the fire or explosion risks that are associated with solvent-based contact adhesives. Sigaway® Contact can be used in small confined space, such as in marine cabins or aircraft. Sigaway® Contact has excellent shelf life and does not dry out. It is freeze stable. Sigaway® Contact adheres instantly and saves the 30-45' waiting time associated with liquid contact cements. Sigaway® Contact may be applied off site to the skirting, reducing labor on-site.

Applications
1. Flash Coving of Solid Vinyl or Rubber

Health care facilities specify the use of Sigaway® Contact dry film adhesive tape for this application to prevent odors and solvents from contaminating the air circulation.

Limitations

CAUTION: Sigaway® Contactdry contact cement is not suitable for extruded PVC skirting (shrinkage) or on Teflon or silicone stain repellent surfaces. It is not suitable for Urethane backings. For extruded PVC base or profiles use Remur 95.

2. Installing Stair Treads
Sigaway® Contact dry film adhesive is used to install select rubber stair treads and nosing over clean, structurally sound and level to a maximum deviation of .040” (1mm) concrete, or metal stairs. Request detailed installation instructions. Apply the dry film tape to the stair and riser. Use a cork smoother to assure good contact. Solvent clean the back of the rubber stair tread. After positioning the stair tread over the adhesive hit the entire stair and riser surface with a rubber mallet to assure good contact. A major advantage is that stair renovations can be done during ordinary business hours without shutting down foot traffic.

CAUTION: Sigaway® Contact dry film adhesive does not cure as does solvent based contact cement and therefore can retain creep. Dry film adhesive cannot overcome the memory stress of some angled rubber nosing that are not an exact match to the profile of the stair.

3. Carpet Base
Sigaway® Contact® is ideal for carpet base. The dry contact cement film may be applied manually or with greater speed and accuracy with the Sigaway® Contacter Applicator to the carpet cove base. Apply sufficient pressure in the applicatpor to bond the contact film to the carpet base. The Contacter may be placed directly behind a binding machine. Suitable wall surfaces are drywall, brickwork, concrete, ceramic surfaces, wall paper, vinyl wall coverings, positive or negative plaster patterns and firm, flake free paint. Suitable carpet backings are synthetic ActionBac®, jute, woven or non-woven backings, Enhancer back, smooth or embossed SBR foam and synthetic Unibond backings. Remove the release paper, apply the skirting to the wall and hit with a rubber mallet.
